Stefania Bello is currently a PhD student enrolled in the National PhD program in Artificial Intelligence (XL cycle) – course on Health and life sciences, organized by Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and she is currently based at the University of Bari, Department of Computer Science. Her research areas include adversarial attacks and defenses in medical machine learning. Graduated in Computer Science with honors, she also holds a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, awarded with honors and special mention, for which she defended a thesis related to data poisoning on medical data. During her Master’s studies and before her doctorate studies, she worked for the academic spin-off Digital Innovation S.r.l., which gave her the opportunity to grow familiar with research and academic environments, as she had the chance to collaborate with professors, researchers and other PhD students. Moreover, she gave her contribution to a project funded by European Union and Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, namely “CTE CALLIOPE” (“Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti CALLIOPE per il One Health”) by contributing to the design and development of a cross-platform system aiming to monitor the interactions between humans and their surroundings safety-wise; i.e. tracking and correlation of one’s environmental exposure (e.g. air pollutants), physical activity and nutrition through AI and non-AI algorithms. Similarly, she’s also had the chance to contribute to the realisation of framework operating in urban settings with the purpose of detecting violence and criminal episodes. In addition, she’s held the position of tutor in scholastic laboratories.
